We are delighted that we have been awarded funding from the Big Lottery Fund to continue our prevention programmes within London secondary schools. The Engage, Influence and Inspire programme has been delivered to over 100 children in 2015, providing valuable work experience during summer and half-term holidays with our partners http://www.brandanddeliver.co.uk. To date, the programme has reduced school exclusions, improved retention rates within lessons and raised GCSE results for children who had been underperforming.
Our CEO Andrez Harriott stated that “One of the boys we worked with last year had received a fixed period exclusion for a violent incident and returned to take part in our programme and work experience placement. One year later, he received an A*, seven B’s and a C in his GCSE’s. You ask this young person what changed and he will tell you that the programme helped to change him. We know it it can work for those who are most at risk and willing to engage. I look forward to this funding helping to support many more”.
